Someshwara Temple, Kolar,Karnataka Somesvara temple situated in Kolar town of Karnataka state, India, built by Tamil kings Chola.is an ornate 14th century Vijayanagara era Dravidian style construction. Someshwara, another name for the Hindu god Shiva is the presiding deity in the temple. Someshwara is said to have been built by Mummadi kempavira Gauda. A record dated 1712 A.D announces that Mummadi Kempegowda made rich grants to God Someshwara in Magadi and specially mentions that the village Shiraghalli being given as a gift to the temple.
